Homework Information

Why do I assign homework?

I believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school.  I give homework because it is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits.

How long will it take?

Homework assignments should take no more than 4o minutes to complete each night, with the exception of studying for tests or working on projects.  If homework is taking longer, please inform me.  Please refer to the weekly newsletter for testing dates and project due dates.

With math homework, if there is a question your child does not understand, and you are unable to help out, please circle the problem and INITIAL the problem. This shows me that you child tried the problem, but needs my help in school to solve it.

Student’s Homework Responsibilities:

I expect students to do their best job on their homework.  I expect all homework to be neatly done.  I expect students to do their own work and ask for help if they do not understand something.  I expect that all assignments will be handed in on time.

Teacher’s Homework Responsibilities:

I will go over all homework.  If I find that a student does not understand a concept, I will take time to review the concept.  Missed assignments will be noted in your child’s Weekend Folder.

Parent’s Homework Responsibilities:

Parents are the keys to making homework a positive experience for their children.  Therefore, I ask that parents make homework a top priority, provide necessary supplies, and a quiet homework environment.  It is helpful to establish a daily homework time.  Please provide your child with support and praise.  Do not let your child avoid homework.  Please feel free to contact me if you notice a problem.
